Our Story

Our beekeeping story starts on Rautawhiri Road in Helensville, New Zealand when my late grandparents moved to their family farm in the early 1950's. The farm is now called Park View. My grandfather had beehives situated by the old homestead and I can remember walking next door with him to Skelton's Orchard as a young child.

My dad moved to the farm as a four year old in July 1951 with his parents. Dad was beekeeping in Helensville until his passing in 2016 and kept bees in and around Helensville with his best friend, a Helensville local. Dad was a founding member of Rodney Beekeepers Club in Helensville. When he passed away I moved back to my birth town with my husband and our three children and continued beekeeping with Dad's best friend. My first memory of beekeeping was extracting honey in my parents garage on Rata Street, Helensville in the early 1980s as a young child.

With a passion and family history of beekeeping in Helensville, Helensville Honey ® as a brand was formed. We produce local raw honey, honeycomb, beeswax products including handmade reusable beeswax food wraps under our Wrap It Up Bee Wrap label. We are striving to be sustainable in everything we do and are proud to produce local products and deliver local beekeeping services.

Along with running our small business, I also work on two separate apiculture programmes each year in New Zealand. My husband works in a different industry however has been known to help at harvest time.

The photo is of my late grandparents. Thanks for taking a look at our website.
